Get Involved with the Cincinnati-Kharkiv Sister City Partnership

“Face-to-face” interaction between people of different cultures enriches and enlarges the worlds of the participants and all those whose lives they touch. When people of different nations get to know each other, world peace, understanding and stability are strengthened… and a myriad of exciting possibilities for the sharing of ideas and knowledge are created.

Since 1989, CKSCP has nurtured the exchange of over 2,500 Cincinnatians and Kharkivites in a wide variety of areas. Additional thousands have been touched directly by the exchange activity in their city.

BE A CITIZEN AMBASSADOR

CKSCP seeks the insight, ideas and interests of ALL greater Cincinnatians. There are no limits to the possible areas of our cooperation!

There are MANY ways you may volunteer and become involved:

  • Host members of delegations from Ukraine in your home. Hosting a visitor from Ukraine can be a rewarding and gratifying experience for individuals and families of all ages, backgrounds and professions. Opportunities exist to build friendships, partner in businesses, exchange ideas and develop understanding about life and culture in another part of the world.
  • An opportunity to open your home and, whether it is just you, or a 10-member family, provide the visitor with a warm welcome and genuine hospitality. Hosting is done on a volunteer basis and can be as short a time as a family meal together. It can also be an overnight, a two-three week visit, or a longer stay. It is a time to exchange ideas, learn about different cultures while developing the bonds of friendship.
  • Provide transportation for delegations. This is a great way to help out and participate for those who cannot host in their homes or businesses. Our Ukrainian guests often need transportation to and from the airport and to scheduled events.

My biggest impression is the gigantic volunteer work done by the CKSCP. It is beyond any praise. Before the trip I could not believe that people on their own initiative would be able to do so much good for others, who are complete strangers… This kind of experience can happen only once in a lifetime, if it happens at all!
